1. CONFERENCES

  • This section outlines key conferences and events relevant to BRIDGE NETWORK’s research and training activities. The overall themes are health informatics, infectious disease modeling, and data-driven policymaking. We have identified events in and outside Africa for the years 2025 and 2026 and update the list as more events are announced.

  • OHDSI Europe Symposium (July) and Global Symposium (October): Ideal for hands-on training in data harmonization, real-world evidence tools, and community networking.
  • Columbia OHDSI Summer School: Intensive 5-day workshop focused on OMOP tooling and analysis workflows—highly recommended for core technical capacity.
  • HELINA (August): The premier African health informatics event—ideal venue for networking across government, academia, and NGOs in digital health innovation.
  • Digital Health Africa Summit (September): Brings together emerging tech (AI, IoT, blockchain) for public health; excellent for interdisciplinary exposure.
  • World Health Summit (October): High-level policy forum; suitable for students aiming to influence health systems and policymaking.
  • Modeling-specific events, such as ICIDM and Infectious Disease Congress, are perfect venues for presenting advanced modeling work.
  • Global summits (World Health Summit, Health Systems Global) provide policy-oriented audiences for data-driven research impact.
  • UNESCO‑MARS supports capacity-building and is ideal for early-career researchers focusing on career development in Africa.

2. CONSORTIUM MEETING

The annual consortium meeting will be held in Addis in September 2025. The subsequent meetings will be held in Rwanda, South Africa, Benin, and Uganda, with a final close-out in Rwanda (figure 1).
